Testimonials
Hi, my name is Dominik
Breathwork facilitator | Mindful leadership coach | Ceremonialist | Ex-Business leader | Yogi
There are a few things I’d like you to know about me so you can feel if there is resonance and interest in working together. Breathwork and other practices for inner work have been hugely transformative in my life. I am learning and evolving every day on this introspective journey and feel so much more acceptance, peace, and joy in my life. My journey with the breath started eight years ago at a mindfulness retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh, who introduced me to this powerful tool: the breath—a portal to the present moment. At the time, I lived in Berlin in a beautiful apartment, was successful in my job, and earned a lot of money. On the outside, everything looked great. But when my partner and I broke up, many of my internal struggles came crashing down on me. I had lost my mum to suicide when I was a teenager and still carried a lot of repressed sadness and grief that I didn’t know how to access. I didn’t even know it was still there. Too often, I was caught in the idea of having to prove myself—to my boss, to my partner, to anyone, really, but most importantly to myself. Because I was not connected with a sense of deep self-worth, trust, and love, I overworked, overdid, and tried to fit external expectations. I was constantly chasing the next thing—the next big trip, adventure, or experience. I hadn’t yet learned to simply be—with myself, in the present moment. As is often the case, in a moment of great pain and suffering, an opportunity for healing and transformation opened. I found myself at a Mindfulness Retreat for Leaders at a Buddhist monastery (Plum Village, founded by Thich Nhat Hanh). This experience opened my eyes. I didn’t just understand—I felt—that I had been looking for answers in the wrong places. In fact, I was looking in the wrong direction: outside, whereas insight is where I needed to look. Everything I needed was already there. This was a glimpse. It shifted many beliefs and was profoundly healing. It is what I consider the start of my inner journey—a journey of ups and downs, expansion and contraction, many shifts, learnings, and big changes in my life. Fast forward to now: I live in the countryside in southern Portugal, close to nature. I left my corporate career behind four years ago and now work as a breathwork facilitator and coach, offering sessions, workshops, and retreats. I continue to follow that glimpse, that insight from back then, which has led me to ashrams, the jungle, lonely mountains, extraordinary states of consciousness, and into my body and heart. Breathwork has been one of the most profound tools for transformation I’ve encountered. After becoming more and more intimate with my breath through meditation, I experienced powerful breathwork sessions. These helped me feel and release stuck emotions and led me into expansive states of consciousness where I found clarity, trust, and a deeper sense of connection with myself and life. I kept following this guidance and completed a 10-month facilitator training. My intention was to deepen my own inner work, but coming out on the other side and seeing the impact breathwork had on me and so many others, I felt a clear calling to share this work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need any previous experience with meditation or breathing exercises in order to do breathwork?
No, not all. Curiosity and openness will serve you though. Unless you have any health conditions that are considered contraindications (see below), you can do breathwork.
What is conscious connected breathwork (CCB)?
Breathwork is a therapeutic technique that uses simple breathing practices to lead people into a non-ordinary state of consciousness where unconscious and previously repressed thoughts, sensations, energies and emotions, that are held in the body, can more easily rise to the surface for integration.

CCB is a breathing technique in which the breather intentionally connects the inhale with the exhale without any pauses, commonly practiced through the mouth. During a breathwork session, the facilitator guides the breather through a journey, accompanied by music, guidance and touch (if wished).
What are the contraindications for conscious connected breathwork?
This work is powerful and will move things within you - physiologically, emotionally and energetically. Therefore it is not advised for people with any of these contraindications.
If any of these health conditions apply to you, you should speak with your doctor prior to practicing:
-
Cardiovascular or heart disease
-
Detached retina or glaucoma
-
Diagnosed brain or abdomen aneurysm
-
Epilepsy
-
Diagnosed mental healt issues (e.g. bipolar or schizophrenia)
-
Uncontrolled diabetes or thyroid conditions
-
High blood pressure
-
Recent surgeries
-
Pregnancy - especially 1st and 3rd trimester

What is the difference between breathwork and the breathing exercises I know from e.g. Yoga?
Many breathing techniques, like yogic breathing, box breathing, and alternate nostril breathing, use the breath to center the mind, balance energy, or calm the nervous system during stress or anxiety. These are valuable practices that can complement Conscious Connected Breathwork.

Conscious Connected Breathwork, however, goes further by guiding you into a deep, altered state of consciousness. In this open state, you can bypass mental resistance to uncover and address the root causes of challenges. This practice often facilitates catharsis and emotional release, allowing you to let go of stored tension, pain, or unresolved feelings. Using your breath as fuel, you hold the power to explore your inner self, release what no longer serves you, and access profound healing and transformation.
What are the benefits of breathwork?
Breathwork offers many benefits. It can nurture the ability to manage stress, improve sleep, relieve physical discomforts, increase self-compassion, release limiting beliefs, access inner wisdom, make new connections, gain new perspectives and reach clarity. Main benefits can include:

🎈 reduce stress, worry and mental rumination
🎈 alleviate anxiety, insomnia and depression
🎈 support the resolution and integration of traumatic energy and fear
🎈 reduce self sabotage, brain fog, lethargy
🎈 support emotional release
🌱 balance energy and enhance vitality
🌱 support nervous system regulation and the resilience to meet the experiences of life
🌱 promote mental clarity
🌱 expand awareness and open new pathways of seeing and understanding
🌱 connect us to our intuition, our wisdom and our peace

It can bring significant improvements in mood, anxiety, sleep, and dysfunctional thought and behavior patterns. In the context of grief, trauma, and PTSD, Breathwork offers a safe container in which to experience, process, and ultimately release traumatic or difficult memories stuck in the body, through the body. Increased level of presence, shifts in perspective and release of trapped memories and emotions, all lead to a dramatic reduction of stress and anxiety levels.
Breathwork help develop neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to develop new neural pathways to reorganise itself. By changing the way we breathe, we can change the way we think, act and behave through strengthening a new pathway.

Finally, Breathwork helps is by toning the vagus nerve. With repeated practice, your parasympathetic system becomes strengthened and sympathetic activation becomes less frequent, leading to an inner calm and increased resilience. Every breathwork widens our window of tolerance for our nervous system to gradually hold more and more charge.
